Book 1 of Blood Legacy Saga by Marva Mitchell

Covenants was a perfect surprise wrapped in a book. A great vampire reading that doesn’t follow all the same old stories out there. A fresh approach and a page turner for me.

Jade and Lance meet on a blind date set up by their friends, Lilly and Brian. To their wonder, they already knew each other and reconnected. A fortune teller reveals some apocalyptic news to them, and it’s then the action starts. Both embark on a journey of self-discovery where they come in contact with other magical creatures, unique powers, gruesome revelations, a world to save.

It’s a fast-paced story. From page one, you find yourself immersed in the adventure. It’s a paranormal fantasy book, yet a beautiful love story between Jade and Lance, and their struggles to be together. The characters are well built with intricate pasts and the dynamics between them are perfect. They get under your skin, and their emotions seep into you. The second characters are as important as the main characters. They ground the story, give depth and pull you in with them.

I won’t give any spoilers here, but there are a lot more to the vampires that meet the eyes. The story is full of twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time. I loved the world building, this different concept about the vampires where they are not cursed beings, but another species that could overpower the others and end the world as we know.

I had a great time reading this book. If you are a fan of paranormal fantasy, with a beautiful romance within the pages, I can’t recommend this book enough. I hope you love it as much as I did. Now I’m off to book 2, Shatters.
