The Hearts We Break

Book 3 in The Alphathletes Series by Katelyn Taylor

I don’t even know what to say, besides I’m speechless! What a story. I need a few minutes to collect my thoughts. The Hearts We Break is an amazing read, and caught me by surprise.

This friends to lovers story is fun, beautiful, and so heart wrenching I felt in my bones.

Slater is this gorgeous football star with a good heart and zest for life, but his marriage is failing and after an accident, his life shatters and he has a hard time coping. Thankfully, his childhood friend has always been there for him. Scarlet or Scar has been in love with Slater since they were kids. She’s the team physical therapist, dedicated to her work, has a good sense of humor, and strong willed, even though life has hit her hard a couple of times. Scar is by Slater's side when he needs her to pick up his pieces, and with a little help of a quite handsome friend, they finally cross the friendship line. And what a smoking hot surprise it is. Life goes on beautifully and suddenly, out of nowhere… Bam! Another wild turn. (I’m not gonna spoil it, but… boy, I didn’t see it coming.)

I love Scar and Slater from the beginning to the end. Their story is about finding each other and fighting for each other, their lives and love. Their romance and chemistry is off the charts. There are a handful of spicy scenes to melt a glacier. It’s also about the support of family and friends. The secondary characters are their friends from the first two books. It’s great to see them again and that their friendship is still going strong even after 10 years out of college, and they add so much to the beauty of the story.

I’m not gonna lie, this story will make you laugh, warm your heart, but also cry. I did. Not to worry, there’s a gorgeous HEA. If you enjoy Sports Romance written from the heart, Katelyn Taylor’s books are for you. I highly recommend them. And Kate, please, pretty please write Trevor’s story. He needs his happily ever after, and he’s already in my heart.
